Criteria: Based on education and experience as specified below.
Job Requirements: Performs preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic electro/mechanical equipment. Changes filters in electrical/electronic equipment. Maintains records on preventive maintenance performed. Examines building electrical equipment on a regular basis and reports needed repairs. Performs preventative maintenance on emergency generators associated with emergency back up power systems to include checking fluids and proper power output. Accomplishes maintenance and repair of low voltage systems including security, fire, video, camera, door control, intercom systems and control systems as required for energy and building control. Repairs and/or replaces defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, UPS batteries, switchboards, controllers, contactors and other fixtures and appliances. Performs other building maintenance tasks supporting building maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc, when requested. Estimates time, materials and equipment required for assigned jobs. Updates work order procedures and preventative maintenance procedures for any work performed and materials used. Assists supervisor(s) in scheduling work orders and Preventative Maintenance; completes paperwork. Updates information on work order and preventative maintenance forms as required to accurately reflect conditions in the field. Assists supervisor in identifying preventative maintenance equipment requirements. Performs on-call responsibilities as required, supporting all County and City buildings, including correctional facilities. Cleans debris from work areas, parts and equipment.
POSITION IS SUBJECT TO ANNUAL RENEWAL OF CITY MAINTENANCE CONTRACT.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of applicable regional building and National Electrical Code requirements. Four (4) years experience in electronic system, accomplishing maintenance and repair in commercial and/or industrial buildings. One (1) year progressive experience working as a Journeyman electrician preferred. Must possess detailed knowledge of applied electrical/electronic practices, techniques and the theory and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and controls. Must have working knowledge of additional building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry). Ability to operate and maintain electrical test/diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and related electrical testing apparatus. Working knowledge of the occupational hazard and safety precautions applicable to accomplishing facility maintenance and repair. Ability to read, interpret and work from wiring diagrams, code books, sketches, layouts, blueprints and oral and written instructions. Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance (hand tools, power tools, gauges, pumps, detectors, test equipment, and snow removal equipment, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively and work with other employees. Must be able to work independently without supervision. Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License. Ability to obtain a journeyman electrical license within six (6) months of employment. Conditional post offer physical examination required.
Any equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
