Job Requirements: Performs preventative maintenance on electrical and/or electronic equipment. Tests, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and corrects electrical problems in the power distribution, electrical equipment, electrical circuits, outlets, panel boards, fuses and breakers, and lighting systems. Works with voltages up to and include 480 VAC. Accomplishes maintenance and repair of low voltage systems to include but not limited to security, fire, video, camera, door control, and intercom systems as well as control systems as required for HVAC and building control. Installs conduit, wire, pull boxes, switchboards, and switches required in making additions, extensions, and/or alterations of electrical systems. Repairs and/or replaces defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, UPS batteries, switchboards, controllers, contactors, and other fixtures and appliances. Maintains, repairs, overhauls, and tests electrical equipment, both alternating and direct current. Performs mechanical work on electrical equipment. Plans, layouts, installs and repairs complex wiring circuits and distribution systems to applicable codes. Estimates time, materials, and equipment required for assigned jobs; maintains work orders of work performed and materials used. Performs other building maintenance tasks supporting building maintenance and repair of mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Assists supervisor in scheduling work orders and completing paper work. Performs on-call responsibilities as required supporting all buildings including correctional facilities. Cleans debris from work area, parts, and equipment. Performs other duties as required.
POSITION IS SUBJECT TO ANNUAL RENEWAL OF CITY MAINTENANCE CONTRACT.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of applicable regional building and NEC code requirements. Two (2) years progressive experience working as a Journeyman electrician or six (6) years experience in electronic system, accomplishing maintenance and repair in commercial and/or industrial buildings. Must have a detailed knowledge of applied electrical/electronic practices, techniques and the theory and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and controls. Must have a general knowledge of additional building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry). Ability to operate and maintain electrical test/diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and related electrical testing apparatus. Knowledge of the occupational hazard and safety precautions applicable to accomplishing facility maintenance and repair. Ability to read, interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, code books, sketches, layouts, blueprints, oral and written instructions. Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance (hand tools, power tools, gauges, pumps, detectors, test equipment, and snow removal equipment, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively and work with other employees. Must be able to work independently without supervision. Must possess a journeyman electrical license. Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License. Conditional post offer physical examination required.
Any equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
