DRIVER’S LICENSE RENEWALS AVAILABLE SATURDAYS 
NEW SERVICE BEGINS SATURDAY, JULY 17 

July 12, 2010 – Colorado Springs, CO – Effective Saturday, July 17, the Clerk & Recorder’s Union Town Center Motor Vehicle Branch office will offer driver’s license renewals. This is an addition to the full services for motor vehicle provided Monday through Saturday at the UTC branch.  Recording and Election services also are offered at this branch 6 days per week. Saturday hours are 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. 

The Union Town Center branch of the Clerk & Recorder’s Office is conveniently located at the northwest corner of Union Boulevard and Research Parkway (in the Albertsons shopping center).  

According to El Paso County Clerk & Recorder Bob Balink, “We opened the UTC branch office for Saturday service on May 1, 2010, for motor vehicle registrations and renewals, along with Recording and Election service, but we have not been able to gain permission from the State DMV to process driver’s license renewals until now…something we have tried to implement for years. We are grateful to the State DMV for allowing us to provide this additional service to the citizens of El Paso County.” 
Balink also indicated his staff was not aware of any other counties offering Saturday service. 

The Union Town Center Branch is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. 

The Centennial Hall branch (downtown) and the Powers Branch (southeast corner of Powers Boulevard and Airport Road) are open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. 

Services offered at UTC (Monday-Saturday):

• Motor Vehicle registrations and license plate renewals
• Driver’s License renewals – NEW ADDED SERVICE EFFECTIVE JULY 17
• Recording services including marriage licenses 
• Election services (register to vote, change of address, request permanent mail-in voter status)
