COORDINATED ELECTION RESULTS FINAL Official Results Certified by Canvass Board
November 16, 2009 – Colorado Springs, CO – The El Paso County Clerk & Recorder’s Office completed its certification of the 2009 Coordinated Election. Certification is the result of a thorough review (canvass) by the Canvass Board of all ballots cast. The Canvass Board consists of one representative of both major political parties in El Paso County and the designated election official who is the El Paso County Clerk & Recorder.
Bob Balink, Clerk & Recorder, stated, “We are thankful to the Canvass Board members for their time and the efficiency with which they conducted the official election ‘audit.’ Equally important is the fact that 126 ballots were counted today and added to the official election results as part of the canvass process.” The addition of these 126 ballots did not change the outcome of any race. Balink added, “We also are thankful for the excellent work done throughout the election process by our Election Department, under the direction of Liz Olson.”
El Paso County has a total of 254,451 active registered voters who were eligible to vote. There were 117,320 ballots cast for a turnout of 46.11%.
The official election results will be posted this afternoon on the Election website at http://car.elpasoco.com/election or call (719) 520-6222.
