NOTICE:
We inadvertently mailed notices dated February 22, 1999, to owners
of certain unzoned properties, advising them their property was
in a zoned classification. We ask, if you received one of these
notices, you disregard it and accept our apologies for any inconvenience
and/or confusion.
Owners
of unzoned property should also receive a survey in the mail.
Please do NOT disregard this. We value your opinion and ask that
you complete and return the survey in a timely fashion. Thank
you.
These
materials are intended to provide background information and the
latest status concerning the ongoing process that is expected
to culminate in the presentation of a Zoning Plan to the Board
of County Commissioners for their consideration on March 25, 1999.
Please be aware that some of this information is extremely dynamic
in nature, because the Zoning Plan is continually being revised
and fleshed out throughout the process. As new or revised materials
are prepared, they will be posted. Interested parties are encouraged
to check back every few days. Please also note that this site
will not be used as a forum for the opinions or organizational
activities of individuals or groups either in favor of or against
zoning.
Eastern
County Working Committee
This
Committee was originally organized by Commissioner Betty Beedy
and consists of approximately 10 members who are generally against
zoning in any form and 10 who are in favor of some form of zoning.
All members are eastern County residents. Mr. Jimmie Brewer chairs
the pro-zoning sub-committee and Mr.Vance Forepaugh chairs the
anti-zoning subcommittee. The moderator for the overall Committee
is Mr. Ed Rankin who has pledged to remain neutral throughout
the process. The County does not formally sanction this Committee,
but staffs from the Planning and Regional Building Departments
are attending all meetings and actively seeking the input of the
group. Between now and February 8th, the sub-committees are meeting
independently and their chairpersons may meet together with County
staff.
