| The
Water Authority (of which El Paso County is a member) had its beginnings
in this Commission.
Water
Resource Study
Commission
The
11-member Executive Committee of the Water Resource Study Commission
(W.R.S.C.) was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to
study, assess and develop recommendations to ensure an adequate
water supply is and will be available to fulfill the long-range
water needs of existing and future water users within El Paso County.
In developing its recommendations, the W.R.S.C. took into consideration,
at a minimum and by way of example only, such matters as environmental
concerns, conservation, education, local/ state/ federal regulatory
programs (including water, land use, health and environmental laws,
rules and regulations), other legal constraints, economic feasibility,
public policies, and the sufficiency of existing and future water
supplies in terms of quality and dependability.
There
were several Subcommittees of the W.R.S.C., specializing in Data
Gathering, Public Relations, Regulatory matters, Water Providers
Cooperation, Finance, etc.
With
the formation of the Water Authority, the W.R.S.C. has ceased to
meet and has turned its duties and responsibilities over to that
group.
