Job Title:  Maintenance Worker III - Team Leader

Criteria:  Based on education and experience as specified below.

Job Requirements:  Operates various types of road construction vehicles to include medium to heavy trucks such as tandem dump trucks, patch trucks, cranes, hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, graders, roadside mowers, rollers, etc. in the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. Lifts and carries grader, bulldozer or loader blades. Installs and removes snow plow and harnesses. Trains other operators as assigned. Performs manual labor using various hand tools or operation of various pieces of equipment such as shovels, jackhammers, power saws, drills, etc. including carrying around job site, with connected air hoses; installs culverts and fences, digs trenches, with assistance. Patches cracks in asphalt using crack sealing equipment and performs asphaltic concrete patching on paved roads. Carries asphalt or cement chucks to and from sites and vehicles. Operates self-propelled hand rollers. Performs flagging duties. Lifts and carries grader, bulldozer or loader blades. Paints and sandblasts structures and install guardrails, snow fences, culverts and pipes. Lifts and carries bridge timbers and guard rails with assistance. Performs routine maintenance and minor mechanical repair on equipment to include lube and grease as necessary. Completes and maintains daily logs and pay cards regarding activities performed and materials used. Scheduled for on-call after hours to respond to emergencies (snow removal, flood repair, tornado clean-up, or any other natural disaster or safety need for the motoring public).

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) years experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment. Knowledge of road and bridge construction and maintenance techniques and procedures. Ability to communicate and work effectively with County staff and the general public. Post conditional physical required.

Any equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses OR Certificates:  Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tank Vehicle Endorsement. Must possess a Colorado Flagger Certificate.

Work Conditions:  Work is performed outdoors and requires lifting, bending, climbing and at times, in hazardous situations (operating construction vehicles, adverse weather). Works with potentially dangerous equipment and tools. May work with hazardous materials (fuels, paints, asphalts, herbicides, pesticides). Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Subject to emergency off hours call-out. Subject to drug and alcohol testing.
